Dr. Cherie Hughes to sign her book about Saint Katharine Drexel
You may remember a year ago, when Saint Katharine Drexel visited our parish as part of our Centennial year. Dr. Cherie Hughes, the woman who dressed as Saint Katharine Drexel, recently wrote a book about the life of this American saint who turned away from her family’s wealth and became a missionary nun. She served untold numbers of Native Americans and African Americans, overcoming open hostility from the Ku Klux Klan. The book is titled Katharine Drexel: The Riches-to-Rags Life Story of an American Catholic Saint.
Drexel funded the first Catholic school in Tulsa – the one we now know as Holy Family Cathedral School. She is the only canonized saint to have visited this church and school.
We are hosting a book signing on October 5 following the 10:00 Sunday Mass. We will have books available for purchase.
