Deacon Jerry Mattox retires; Parish hosts party

Holy Family will host a party for Deacon Jerry Mattox on November 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Halpine Room. It will honor Deacon Jerry as he eases into retirement.

Deacon Jerry Mattox has retired from many of his roles at Holy Family and assisting at the altar at Diocesan events. We will see him often at the Cathedral, working on the projects he loves most.

A Tulsa native, Jerry met Kathleen during pilot training at Vance Air Force Base, after he had graduated from Rice with two degrees in Electrical Engineering. He flew the F-100D during the war in Vietnam, and many other aircraft during his career in the Air Force. Following his time in the military, he worked for Nelson Electric and at McDonnell Douglas. After retiring, Jerry and Kathleen gave their time to Holy Family Parish. Before his 2001 ordination to the diaconate, he was part of the Cathedral Outreach program, Knights of Columbus, RCIA, and Religious Education program. After his ordination, he became more involved by leading RCIA and Bible Study plus ministering as a Deacon at the Cathedral.
