The Truth about the Reformation: Background on the Reformation

Leo X

First Session: Background to the Reformation
March 10, 2015    7:00-8:30 p.m.    Auditorium

Learn just how badly the Reformation didn’t have to happen — the truth behind all those horror stories about medieval backwardness, bad Popes, corrupt Church and clergy, suppression of the Bible, sale of indulgences, etc., etc. Once you know why the Reformation didn’t have to happen, you can begin to see why it did happen.

Can anyone have Jesus and the Bible without the Catholic Church? If you think so, we invite you to think again. Meanwhile, learn what the Catholic Church actually teaches about the one Church and the many churches, heresy and heretics, reading and interpreting the Bible, priestly celibacy, penance and indulgences, and what Protestants call “works righteousness”.

Every Christian – Catholic or Protestant – needs to know these things. Questions, comments and arguments are welcome.

This session is part of the series The Truth About the Reformation. For more hints about what’s on tonight’s program, read this introduction.
