Why are we Loyal to the Pope? Wednesday, October 7

peter keysThe Catholic Church is the Pope’s Church. Loyalty to the Pope is what sets us apart from both the Orthodox and the Protestants –or rather, disloyalty to the Pope is what sets both the Orthodox and the Protestants apart from us.

  • Why are we loyal to the Pope?
  • What does Scripture say about the Papacy?
  • What did Jesus really mean when He called Simon “Peter, the Rock?”
  • Did Jesus single Simon out on other occasions?
  • Was James “the brother of Jesus” the real ruler of the early Church?
  • Who was greater, Simon or Paul?

Did Simon have successors? If he did, who were they, and what to we know about them? Were they real Popes? Is is true that there was no Papacy before 300 A.D.? before 600 A.D.? before 800 A.D.?

Why is the pope infallible? What does infallible means anyway? Do you have to believe everything the Pope says? Can we safely ignore anything the Pope says?

These are fundamental questions for all Christians. Do you know the fundamental answers?
