Chrism Mass to be on Wednesday, March 23, 2016

Chrism Mass oils in back of Cathedral
Each year during Holy Week, the Bishop celebrates a solemn Mass at which he consecrates and blesses the oils which are used in our Sacramental Rites. This Mass will be celebrated at the Cathedral on Wednesday March 23, at 5:30 in the evening. (In previous years, the Chrism Mass had been on Tuesday of Holy Week.)

Ever after, through the sacred mystery of the Chrism,
you so bestow upon the human race
the manifold riches of your grace,
that your sons and daughters,
born again in the font of Baptism,
may be strengthened by the anointing of the Spirit
and, being conformed to your Christ,
receive a share in his office of Prophet, Priest, and King.

-excerpt from prayer of consecration of Sacred Chrism

Join us for the annual Chrism Mass and savor the opportunity to pray with Catholics from across the Diocese this Holy Week.

Thanks for the willingness to help, Chris! Some years the Divine Worship Office likes to enlist the help of Holy Family’s ushers; other years, they like to handle ushering themselves. Know that you’re always appreciated!
