Leslie Southerland the Principal of Holy Family Cathedral School was awarded the Bernie Fonza Civic Award at the State Convention of the Knights of Columbus.  Leslie  graduated from TU with a Juris Doctorate and practiced law for some time. In 2008, desiring a more fulfilling career, she  obtained  her teaching certificate and was hired at Holy Family Cathedral School as the third grade teacher. During her  time at Holy Family she has  taught fifth grade, fourth through eighth grade English, Social Studies and Reading.

When the previous Principal of Holy Family Cathedral School left, Leslie applied to be principal. She felt God was calling her to help the school fulfill its untapped potential, and expand its mission of service to the poor.  Since she has taken over as principal in 2012 the school has  grown from 135 students to its current enrollment of 190 and the faculty has  grown from  14 to 22. Last year Holy Family was selected as an Oklahoma A+ School, with a move to a more classical education model. Leslie has accomplished all of this and much more and is continuing to work on the improvement of the physical facility of the Cathedral school.
We at the Cathedral would like to thank the Conro Family and Leslie Southerland for their strong example of leadership and all of their years of service to their brothers and sisters in Christ.
