Holy Family Cathedral Consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

DSC_0326Last night, May 31 2016, the Feast of the Visitation, close to 200 people consecrated themselves and families to Mary after following along with our parish retreat of 33 Days to Morning Glory. Our Family Faith Formation Team organized the retreat and made everything possible.  DSC_0373

What is consecration to Mary? Consecration to Mary has been around since the early centuries of the church. It was St. Louis Marie de Montfort that promoted the concept of total consecration to Mary. He said that for us to always be assured of being close to Jesus, even closer than ever before, we should go through Mary.  In our prayer of consecration we turned over everything to Mary our body our soul, our worldly goods even our good actions.

By our consecration we promise to become dependent on Mary in all things: to offer all our prayers and oblations to God through Mary, and to seek every gift from God through Mary.
