Corpus Christi Procession

Holy Family Cathedral will be observing the traditional Feast of Corpus Christi with a Eucharistic Procession following vespers on Thursday, May 31st at 7 pm. This is a family friendly event and all are welcome to join. Vespers will be followed by a procession outside to altars set up around the Holy Family Cathedral Campus.

We invite you and your parish or ministry to participate! Here’s how you can do that: set up an altar for the procession where the Eucharist will be venerated, march with banners, invite friends, fellow parishioners and neighbors, and finally, spread the word! To organize an altar, please contact Bill Elliott at 405-612-7773 or by email:

The Feast of Corpus Christi celebrates the True Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist. The feast was originally celebrated in 1246 in Belgium after Saint Juliana petitioned her bishop for a feast day outside of Lent set aside for the Eucharist. In 1246 Pope Urban IV instituted the feast day for the entire church. The Feast of Corpus Christi was established to create a feast focused solely on the Holy Eucharist.

The evening will begin at 7 pm with Vespers in Holy Family Cathedral. Everyone will then follow in procession behind the Eucharist exposed in the monstrance. The procession will stop periodically at altars set up along the route. Join us in prayer and song as we publicly profess our faith in Our Lord truly present in the Blessed Sacrament! We would love for everyone across the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma to join us in participating, processing, setting up altars and praying! Contact Bill Elliott at 405-612-7773 or or Fr.
