Knights of Columbus Turkey Drive

Each year the Knights of Columbus hold a turkey and ham drive to help make Thanksgiving a little better for families in need. This year they would like to deliver 200 Turkeys and Hams to Catholic Charities. Thanksgiving is a holiday that brings families together. You can help by bringing a turkey or ham and putting it in the freezer in the basement. Don’t have time to go to the store and pick up a turkey or ham? You can let the Knights do the shopping for you. If you want to donate by check or cash, then please make your $15 check payable to Knights of Columbus Council 10388 Turkey Drive, or place $15 in an envelope marked the same and drop it in the collection basket. Donations will be collected … Read entire article »

by Martin Reidy   Ordained a simple priest and assigned to dear HF he shook up Rev. Halpine he really must confess!   He also changed the way many things were done and pizza at the Rectory was but only one!   He was like a comet a flash across the land for in a blink was gone to shake up the Vatican!   He rose up thru the ranks- a Monsignor soon by name and with a Papal “Thanks!” an Archbishop he became!   But he forgot not dear HF and being grateful, understand he offered Holy Mass as … Read entire article »

Notes from the Knightstand: March 2016

by Martin Reidy   The Lenten Fast is nearly done for what is to come Crucifixion of our Lord and King so Life from Death may Easter bring!   Due to the early date of Easter this year the Christmas season hardly ended with the Feast of the Presentation on the 2nd in February when Lent commenced on the 10th. It left precious little time in between for any frivolity. The Feast of the Presentation of our Lord, previously known as, variously, Candlemas and the … Read entire article »

Notes from the Knightstand: February 2016

by Martin Reidy   Indeed! The Lenten Season is soon upon us (if not already by the time you receive this newsletter)! Holy Family will schedule the usual Mass, Adoration, Benedictions, Stations of the Cross, and a Friday evening dinner after Stations.   Why do I feel defeated in my struggle over sin? Because in my heart I know so well that I’ll commit them all again! Once I had so much resolve that – unlike other men – I knew that I would never become … Read entire article »

Notes from the Knightstand: January 2016

by Martin Reidy   So, before Janus locks the gate on the year that was let us take a quick perusal of the accomplishments of the Council in 2015 – not all done by our own initiatives as we had your help in many of our undertakings.   Once again we begin anew promises made on what to do to improve our lives and lot but are they kept? Mostly not! For we know it is for our own good to keep our promises … Read entire article »

The 2015 Turkey Drive feeds the hungry

The 2015 Turkey Drive feeds the hungry

It’s time again to begin the annual Holy Family Turkey Drive. This is a tradition started by Deacon Tom Gorman and the Knights of Columbus in 2001. Our parish has fed thousands of families. Last year alone, Holy Family parishioners donated 106 turkeys and hams. Can we equal that this year? Can we surpass it? All turkeys and hams deposited in the freezer in the basement of the Cathedral will go to Catholic Charities to be distributed at Thanksgiving. … Read entire article »
