First Reconciliation and First Communion Preparation

Holy Family Cathedral, Tulsa

Holy Family Faith Formation seeks to support parents as they share the Faith with their children. We will provide the necessary materials for each family to use at home. Our clergy, staff and volunteers will show you how to implement regular prayer and study in your home as well as answer your catechetical and practical questions. Additionally, we will assist you by offering incentives to children for their diligent participation.

Family Faith Formation is focused on the 1st Wednesday and 3rd Sunday of the month with a few exceptions. Once a month families will gather as part of the Wednesdays at Cathedral program. Parents will receive instruction and materials while their children participate in a fun and engaging class designed to reinforce what they are learning at home and aid in memorization. Parents will receive a binder with a calendar of events and other relevant information, a schedule for reading the materials,  prayers and Bible verses over a two week period in their homes. A second monthly meeting on the 3rd Sunday of the month, before 10 am Mass will include Sanctuary tours, incentives for memory work and more! Additionally, parents will receive the reading schedule for the later half of the month.

Each child preparing for First Holy Communion will receive these books, although not all at once, and a tote bag for transporting materials to and from class. Each child will add to a First Holy Communion Memory Book in class. These will stay in the classroom until after they have received sacraments.

The Wednesday evening schedule is listed in the weekly  Sunday bulletin. You also contact the Office of Family Evangelization at holyfamilyfaithformationtulsa.com.

Reception of the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion is extra special. We have therefore included one retreat per sacrament and an interview with one of our priests as part of our formation program. Any changes to the schedule will be emailed to parents.
