Holy Family Cathedral Consecrated to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Last night, May 31 2016, the Feast of the Visitation, close to 200 people consecrated themselves and families to Mary after following along with our parish retreat of 33 Days to Morning Glory. Our Family Faith Formation Team organized the retreat and made everything possible.   What is consecration to Mary? Consecration to Mary has been around since the early centuries of the church. It was St. Louis Marie de Montfort that promoted the concept of total consecration to Mary.   Monsignor Gregory Gier the pastor Emeritus celebrated his 50th Anniversary of Ordination this weekend..Monsignor Gier was ordained a priest. Monsignor Gier was ordained some 50 years ago on May 27, 1967 in the Diocese of OKC, as Oklahoma was one diocese at the time. In 1971 he was assigned to Bishop Kelley and since then has stayed close to the Tulsa area, with assignments  in Bartlesville and Muskogee. Msgr Gier to Celebrate his Jubilee

Msgr. Gier to celebrate 50 years as a priest. It is hard to think of a time when we were not blessed by Msgr. Gier and that is because he has been a priest for 50 years. Gregory Gier was ordained to the priesthood on May 27,1967 by Bishop Victor J. Reed. His resume reads like  history of the Diocese of Tulsa, serving at over 1/2 dozen parishes including here at Holy Family Cathedral as rector. Not only has Msgr. Gier served parishes he has served as Chaplain to organizations throughout the diocese and on boards, including Catholic Charities and Porta Caeli House. As Rector Emeritus of the Cathedral he is now enjoying a retirement from administrative duties. Msgr. Gier is still active and says mass most weekends here at the Cathedral. Msgr.
